Portfolio Marc Yankus
by Jacqueline Tobin

New York native Marc Yankus likes to describe himself as having a multiple personality..a multiple CREATIVE personality that is. Having studied fine art and illustration at the High School of Art & Design, and then at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Yankus is a self-taught photographer who’s been immersed in collage illustration for the past 21 years and has been incorporating photography into his work for the past six years. “In 1990 I bought a Mac, then Photoshop 1.0 came out and I stared combing my illustration and photography digitally..It was a perfect fit. I do straight photography and then basically use the computer as my darkroom.”

While Yankus has found a solid market for his painterly work in book covers for publishing houses like Knopf/Random House, Penguin Books and St. Martin’s Press, he also does editorial work for Men’s Journal, Brill’s Content and Rolling Stone. “I prefer doing creative work and whatever the vehicle may be to do it though, that’s fine by me.”
